Operation BigBookBag
OperationBigBookBag aims to assist at-risk school-aged children in shelters, hospitals, and other facilities by providing essential school supplies and learning materials. Our mission is to facilitate easy access to reference materials, ensure students have necessary tools for homework, and support educational needs in collaboration with shelters, youth centers, schools, and hospitals. Established by the late Dr. LaRona J. Morris, Past Grand Basileus in 1996, the program has expanded to include tutoring, mentoring, and a stronger focus on STEM subjects. Chapters host events year-round, with back-to-school giveaways occurring every August and January.
Project Cradle Care
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.'s vital initiative, Project CRADLE Care, aims to raise awareness about and address the unequal health outcomes faced by Black mothers and babies. Through community outreach, advocacy, and education, the project, in collaboration with the March of Dimes, targets issues like long-term stressors, health problems, racism, and biases within the healthcare system. Alarming statistics underscore the urgent need for action, with Black women in some regions being twelve times more likely to face complications during pregnancy. Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., in partnership with the March of Dimes, is dedicated to collectively addressing the multifaceted challenges impacting the health and well-being of Black mothers and babies.

Annual Youth Symposium
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.'s Youth Symposium, held annually on the second Saturday of March during Sigma Week, is a nationally coordinated effort by Alumnae Chapters. Funded by undergraduate chapters and affiliates, the Symposium addresses pressing youth issues such as drugs, violence, abuse, and more. Initiated by the late Dr. LaRona J. Morris, Past Grand Basileus, from 1996 to 2000, the program continues to empower youth with hands-on leadership events. Standardized programs ensure consistency across the country, resulting in improved academic performance and behavior. The Symposium, a much-anticipated event, demonstrates the sorority's commitment to positively impacting the lives of young people nationwide.
